Postcard — A5 portrait · UK direct mail

What is an A5 portrait direct mail postcard?

An A5 portrait postcard is the same large card as the landscape version, turned upright. Portrait suits menus, price lists, step-by-step offers and anything that reads top to bottom. It is printed both sides on card and posted to a named person without an envelope.

What actually arrives through the letterbox?

A tall A5 card, printed both sides, landing without an envelope and read the way a page is read.

Portrait orientation. Exact geometry is locked to the supplied Stannp A5 Portrait Postcard Guide. Printed on 300gsm, addressed to a named person at a verified UK address, and posted through our print and post partner — never dropped door to door.

How does Lenny design it?

You describe the business and the offer. Lenny writes the copy, produces the artwork at the exact size the printer requires, and shows you both what it looks like and where every protected area sits.

01

Brief

Tell Lenny your business, your offer and who you want to reach. Bring your website or a menu if you have one.

02

Concept

Copy and layout produced at 154 × 216 mm, with the address area kept clear. Labelled a concept until a file is checked.

03

Verified print file

The file is measured against the printer's specification before it can be approved. Nothing is called print-ready until it passes.

04

Your approval

You approve, or ask for changes in plain words. Nothing is printed or posted without a person approving it.

Bringing your own artwork? Upload it and it is measured against the same specification. If it does not fit, you get a plain list of what to change — or we repair it and send it back for your approval.

What are the exact print measurements?

These come from our print partner's own published design guide, revision 2026-09-20. The same numbers drive Lenny's designs, our file checks and the order itself, so nothing can drift.

Who is a postcard — a5 portrait right for?

Menus and price lists

A takeaway posting a short menu with prices to 3,000 nearby homes.

Step-by-step offers

A gym listing three membership tiers down the card with a joining code.

Property and lettings

An estate agent sending a vertical "recently sold nearby" card to a target street.

Who do we send it to?

Two routes, both addressed mail.

We build the audience

Tell Lenny the area and the kind of household or business you want, and we build a targeted list of UK addresses for the mailing.

Address data integration not connected yet — audience counts are shown as unavailable rather than estimated.

You bring your own list

Upload a spreadsheet of customers. Every row is checked for a usable street address and postcode, duplicates are collapsed, and anything unpostable is skipped with a plain reason rather than printed.

How much does a postcard — a5 portrait mailing cost?

One price per item covers printing, finishing and UK postage. These examples are read live from the same price list used at checkout.

QuantityPer itemTotal
250£2.20£550.00
1,000£2.20£2,200.00
5,000£2.20£11,000.00
10,000£2.20£22,000.00

The price per item is the same at every quantity, and postcards go by standard post; letter-only upgrades do not apply. Your confirmed price stays fixed.

What happens after you order?

01

Proof

A test copy is produced from your approved artwork. Nothing is posted and no postage is spent at this stage.

02

Human approval

A person at AutoLetters checks the order and the file against the specification before anything goes live.

03

Print and post

Items are printed, finished and handed to Royal Mail, with each item recorded against your order.

04

Responses recorded

QR codes, codes and redemptions are recorded against the campaign as an attributed ratio — never presented as profit or ROI.

Honest limits

Postcard — A5 portrait questions, answered

Is portrait more expensive than landscape?

No. Both A5 orientations are priced the same way, and the worked examples on this page come from the same live price list.

Where does the address go?

A band across the reverse is reserved for the address and postal markings. Its exact size is shown on this page and is kept clear in every design we produce.

Can I put a QR code on it?

Yes, and we recommend it. A campaign QR code lets responses be recorded against the mailing.

Not sure which fits? Ask Lenny or compare every format on the pricing page.
